Questions
What counts as a fixed cost?
Anything you pay regardless of sales: rent, salaries, insurance, software, loan payments. Materials and card fees are variable — they belong in the per-unit cost.
What if the per-unit cost is higher than the price?
Then there's no break-even point — every sale loses money. We say so plainly rather than showing a nonsense number.
What's contribution margin?
Price minus unit cost — what each sale contributes to covering your fixed costs. Divide fixed costs by it and you have your break-even.
